Replacement lamps for diagnostic instruments are not interchangeable. Two instrument heads can look identical on the wall and still take different lamps, so the model number — not the appearance — is what determines the right part.
The model or reference number is usually printed on the instrument head itself, or on the handle it attaches to. It's the number that identifies the device — not the number on the old bulb, which can be worn away or missing entirely.
Lamps of similar size can differ in voltage and in how they seat in the housing. A lamp that physically fits is not automatically the correct lamp, which is why we list specific part numbers rather than describing bulbs by size or shape.
